Armani Multi-Strand Scarf

The other day a reader wrote me about my Emporio Armani scarf. She would like to DIY one for herself as $150 for a scarf may not be outrageous but it is not exactly cheap. For me, I can't sew to save my life but I think it is possible to DIY this scarf. It is a very stylish piece. If anyone can make it, I highly recommend this piece. If not, you just have to get it from Emporio Armani then.  This was one of the pieces Kate Lanphear showed during the fashion show I attended at Emporio Armani, It was also one of the pictures that got lost, much to my sadness. Kate paired the scarf with a slim white tee and skinny jean.  It was so cute!
Scarf strands are tied together at two places by wrapping another piece fabric of same print tightly around all the strands. The end of the first wrap around which is about 4 inch wide is 18 inches from the beginning of the second wrap around, which is about 4 inch as well. It is finished off by a knot in the end.  Total length of scarf is about 64 inches.

Each strand is just a long piece of cotton elastic fabric about 1/2 inch wide.  The fabric just curl inward by itself.  Honestly, just thinking about cutting all this fabric makes me slightly dizzy but it is achievable. If anyone decide to DIY as well, sent me a picture so I can show it off here too. Have fun!!!

Dior chandelier shoes

I saw these cute shoes by Dior, the heel is decorated with strand of beads. Think at the effect of these beaded fringes while walking! I was thinking that the look could be copied this way:
  1. prepare a few strands of beads (choose light weighted beads)
  2. then connect them to a little chain, every strand in every loop
  3. glue the chain around the heel
  4. you can do several layers
and you're done!

Sonia Rykiel Necklace

What do you need:

1 Metre, or your personal desired length, Decorator's Cord/Trim
2 Large Round/Square Wooden Beads
1 Small piece leather, approx. 3" x 4" each
Packaging Tape
Spray paint in two desired colours

My beads came pre-painted with a high gloss acrylic, so I sanded them down and then gave them several coats of spray paint.

Tightly secure the ends of the cord with packaging tape (this makes it waaay easier to thread through the beads!)

Cut the leather strip into a fringe. Leave approx. 1/4" uncut at the top, you want this to stay in one piece!

After the beads are strung, snip the rope off leaving around 3/4" of rope length sticking out under the beads. Wrap the leather around the rope length gluing it every inch or so to keep it secure.

jill sander market bag

Simons can make a plastic bag the it bag of the season. And he did. I'm seeing the Jil Sander market bags everywhere!
The pattern of this bag is shamefully simple so I thought why not to make my own.
I used some hot pink fabric but I think I'm also going to make one in black leather.
Follow these instructions to make one for yourself.

Comme des Carons, bare feet shoes

If you have gotten boring shoes've left, you can pimp them! Use a fabric marker and draw the toes out, I would look first at a chalk drawing if it's good to go, and if not you can wipe away again! You can also do this with ballerinas and pumps, of course.

Sonja Rykiel pearl sunglasses

What you need: round sunglasses, flat-back pearls, glue gun.

I picked up a pair of plain black ‘bug-eye’ shades on St. Marks Place in NYC (Top Shop has them too) and some cabochon pearls on Etsy (mine are 8mm). Sonia’s version has plain white pearls but I went for an assortment of pastels just to make them a little more ‘me’. It was very easy – glue the pearls around the edge & the handles and voila, you have an updated version of trendy shades this season!
